I used to think of the sun as an evil pleasure. 😈 I was so pale people thought I was goth, or maybe just sick. I got pink in five minutes of sun exposure, so I was honestly convinced that I NEEDED sunscreen. At the time, I was eating a low-fat vegetarian diet. When I did eat fat, they were industrially-made seed oils.
My skin was acne-prone and never tanned. 15 years ago, I had a real-food awakening. I gave up seed oils and soy, and began embracing animal fats. Within just a few months, my skin transformed. It browned instead of burning. I stopped slathering on sunscreen for daily errands or walks. I realized my skin wasn’t broken – it was undernourished. That’s when I started rethinking everything I believed about sunlight. What if the sun isn’t something to fear – but something we’ve misunderstood? In this week’s blog post, I’m sharing what “sensible sun exposure” actually means – and why you might want to rethink your relationship with the sun too, Reader. You’ll learn:
This isn’t about just ignoring the risks and allowing your skin to get crisp. It’s about rebuilding a natural rhythm with the sun. One where you trust your body, nourish your skin from the inside out, and enjoy being outdoors without fear. If you’ve ever wondered: "Is it really safe to tan?" You’ll want to read this.
Your body was made to be in the sun. Let’s relearn how to thrive in it – not hide from it. 🌞 Warm wishes, Jenn P.S. When I do wear sunscreen – usually only in the tropics – I use this one from One Love Body Soul. It’s a natural, water-resistant mineral sunscreen made with non-nano zinc and essential oils. A great backup when hats and shade won’t cut it. |
